Frances Jones Beck 98 formerly of 2208 Nance St. Newberry widow of Robert Edwin Ed Beck died Thursday August 29 2013 at Springfield Place. Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday September 1 2013 at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Richard Goldie. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family did receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM prior to the service at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. She was born on November 21 1914 in Newberry a daughter of the late Frank K. Sr. and Ida Hair Jones. Mrs. Beck attended Newberry Schools and graduated from Newberry High School in 1931 and Newberry College in 1935 Mrs. Beck taught in Woodruff SC Silverstreet SC Albany GA and Speer Street and Boundary Street Elementary schools in Newberry. She retired in 1969 after 27 years of teaching. She was a member of the Newberry County and South Carolina Retired Teachers Associations and the Fidelis Delta Chapter of the ADK International Sorority for Women Educators. Mrs. Beck was a member of ONeal St. United Methodist Church a life member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Nan Layton Circle and the Bernice Martin Sunday School Class. She was a devoted church member and served her church in many capacities. Mrs. Beck is survived by her daughter Ann Beck Kizer and husband James Henry Kizer of Mt. Pleasant; two granddaughters Marianne Kizer Farabee and husband Larry A Farabee of Germantown TN and Leslie Kizer Causey and husband Donald P Causey of Mt. Pleasant SC; four great-grandsons Zachary James Causey Aaron Daniel Causey Beck Allen Farabee and Benjamin Patrick Farabee. In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by her brother Frank K.
