Frances Wisdom Baumgartner 88 widow and partner in ministry of Rev. Hugh E. Baumgartner died Thursday December 4 2014 at Heritage at Lowman. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday December 7 at Bethel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Roy Butler and the Rev. Gary Lyerly. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 PM Saturday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin. Born in Elberton GA she was the only child of the late William Lee and Estelle Perrin Wisdom. Mrs. Baumgartner was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in White Rock where she was also a member of the Women of the ELCA the Sharers Sunday School Class and the Monday Prayer Group. She attended Georgia State Womens College in Valdosta Ga. As a recognized portrait painter she contributed to the artistic climate of Newberry SC both as a member and officer of the Creative Arts Club and the Power House Art Group. She also taught art at the Lowman Home in White Rock SC for several years. Loving mother of six children she is survived by daughters Patricia B. Bowles (Tom) of Irmo and Carla Baumgartner of Columbia; sons Andrew C. Baumgartner (Nancy) of Augusta GA Paul W. Baumgartner (Debbie) of Woodstock GA and H. Eric Baumgartner of Ladson; daughter-in-law Anne Baumgartner of Yorktown PA ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son William E. Baumgartner. Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Hospice o/o Lutheran Homes of SC 300 Ministry Drive Irmo SC 29063.
