Obituary

Frank M. Parr 60 of West Columbia SC died at his residence. He was born in Newberry SC on March 14 1952 a son of the late Callie Boyd Parr Jr. and Frances Daniel Parr. Graveside funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday August 19 2012 In Rosemont Cemetery Newberry. Visitation was 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Frank grew up in Marietta GA and completed his high school years at the prestigious Darlington School in Rome GA. He began his college education at Presbyterian College in Clinton SC and graduated from the University of Alaska in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree. During his years Frank worked in a number of areas including working as a Bull cook as a Fisheries Technician in Kodiak Alaska and part time as a Longshoreman at the Port of Anchorage. In 1982 he received his certification as an IRS Enrolled Agent authorizing him to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and in 1988 he began work with the State of Alaska Department of Revenue. He spent 31 years in the state of Alaska. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta. He was also a member of The Sons of the American Revolution The Somerset Chapter Magna Charta Barons The Colonial Order of the Crown The Sovereign Colonial Society of Americans of Royal Descent The Sons of Confederate Veterans and a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. His passion was genealogy and over the years he compiled a number of family genealogy books on his ancestor families. Frank is survived by his brothers and sister-in-law Homer D. and Amenda Parr of Cumming GA and C. B. Chip Parr III of Newberry; nieces and their spouses Danielle and Patrick Samara and Liza and Joe Ansley; nephew and spouse C. B. Skip Parr IV and Wendy; great nieces Natalie Samara Mattie Ansley Caroline Parr and Campbell Parr; great nephew Callie B. Parr V; and a number of cousins.
