Frank Navratil, Sr., 90, died peacefully in his sleep at the Heritage at Lowman on Monday, March 7, 2016.
Born in Union City, New Jersey on August 7, 1925, he was a son of the late Frank Navratil and Liska E. Glaser Navratil.
He was a graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology with a BS in mechanical engineering and worked as global manager with Bingham-Willamette/Guy F. Atkinson Company.
Mr. Navratil was a veteran of the US Navy serving as a Seabee in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, GROTTO, and Shrine Temple and had previously belonged to the American Legion.
He treasured sharing his war stories with family and friends as well as talking about his travel adventures.
Predeceased by his wife Edna Louise Navratil, he is survived by children, Karen Larrabee (husband David) of Chapin, SC, Lynn O'Neill (husband Brian) of Pompton Plains, NJ, Frank Navratil, Jr. (wife Donna) of Loudon, TN and Russell Navratil (wife Debbie) of Cartersville, VA; brother, Roger Navratil (wife Margaret) of New Bern, NC; grandchildren, F. Douglass Navratil (wife Megan), Darcy Navratil, Heather Crosby (husband Eddie), Eric Larrabee, Melissa Lowder (husband Chris), Christopher Navratil (wife Heather), Tracy Navratil, Bryan Adams (wife Karissa) and Kathleen O'Neill; 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 dogs that he dearly loved, Beau and Roscoe.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Flora Funeral Center in Rocky Mount, VA at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park in Boones Mill, VA.
