Frankie Layton Zimmerman, 77, of Roebuck, SC died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Palmetto Health Richland. Frankie was born on January 21, 1939 in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Charles Heyward Layton and Mattie Sue Thomas Layton Marino. She was married to the late Donald Earl Zimmerman. A registered nurse by profession, she was retired from Spartanburg Regional Hospital. She was a member of Beaver Hill Baptist Church. Frankie was an avid reader, an animal lover, in particular a cat lover, and most important she was a generous and nurturing mother. She is survived by her son Donald F. Zimmerman (Mindy) of Newberry and her sister, Jo Gossett (John) of Clover. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry conducted by the Rev. Todd Johnson. The family will greet friends following the services on Friday.
