Fred J. "Bubba" Weir, Jr., 89, of Newberry, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Newberry on March 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Fred J. Weir, Sr. and Helen Bedenbaugh Weir. Mr. Weir was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and a former member of the Newberry Lions Club. He worked many years at Greenwood Mills, retiring as a vice president. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Anderson Weir; children, Fred J. "Jimmy" Weir, III (Ginger) of Newberry, Robert Harold "Bobby" Weir (Julie) of Anderson, and Thomas Anderson "Tommy" Weir (Beth) of Simpsonville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy W. Ruff. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, November 24, 2017 at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Matthew Titus. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
