Obituary

George D. Duke Singley Jr. 80 of 4892 SC Highway 773 died Wednesday July 30 2008 at his residenceHe was born on May 8 1928 in Prosperity to the late George D. and Louise Elisor Singley. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Pomaria. He had worked in the pulpwood industry and was an avid fisherman and hunter.Mr. Singley is survived by his wife of 55 years Pauline Gruber Singley; a daughter and son in law Betty and Jerry Sligh of Pomaria; sons G. Thurmond Butch Singley and Billy Singley both of the home and Ernest Singley of Pomaria; sisters Helen Bundrick of Pomaria and Sara Smith of Newberry; grandchildren Tracy Arrowood David Stevens Charles Stevens Eddie Singley Andy Singley and Kelsey Singley; and great grandchildren April and Joshua Arrowood. He was predeceased by a sister Drunnelle Brown and a brother Thomas Singley. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. Rev. Brent Nichols. Interment with military rites was in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M.
