George H. Torok, 93 years of age, died on March 24, 2020 at his home in Chapin, SC.
He was born on February 17, 1927 in Stamford, CT, a son of the late Stephen "Steve" Louis Torok and Sarepta "Tiny" Amanda Rexter Torok.
Mr. Torok was a veteran of World War II serving in the Merchant Marines. He retired from the Stamford Board of Education where he had worked for many years as a custodian. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin.
A proud and patriotic American with a fondness for eagles, George and his wife enjoyed traveling by motorcycle throughout the contiguous United States and Canada.
Mr. Torok loved his country and loved all of his family with an adoring love for his wife.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Rose Brancato Torok; children, Sharon Cantanzaro (Nicholas) of Old Greenwich, CT, Stephen Torok (Dianne) of Northford, CT, Susan Burke (Steven) of Chapin, Shirleen Evans (Mark) of Hillsborough, NC and Jonathan Torok of Chapin; grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Cantanzaro, Jennifer Santiago (Saul), Allison Torok, Steven Burke II (Chrissy), Lindsay Burke, Lauren Kevorkian (Chris) and Alfred Sweet, III; numerous great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Theresa Caridi of New York.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Rosemarie Sweet and siblings, Robert Torok, Grace Mitchell and Dorothy Torok.
A private family service will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery.
