Obituary

George Warren Trautman, 90, of Springfield Place in Newberry, SC died peacefully in the early morning on May 23, 2018. Born on January 27, 1928 in Coraopolis, PA, he was a son of the late George Jacob Trautman and Anna Margaret Heinlein Trautman. He was an Army veteran and served as a parachutist with the occupation forces in Japan after World War II. Following his military service, Mr. Trautman began work with Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. He worked for Bell Telephone 37 years, retiring in 1985. Shortly after retirement, he and his wife Helen moved to Spring Hill, Florida. In 1997 they relocated to South Carolina. He was a member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church in Newberry, SC and a former longtime member of Union United Presbyterian Church in Robinson Township, PA. He served both as an Elder and Deacon in the Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of Oakdale Masonic Lodge #669. During his early retirement years, golfing and gardening were some of his favorite interests and in later years, he enjoyed reading, especially historical and political topics. He loved his God, he loved his family and he loved his country. Mr. Trautman is survived by Helen, his wife of 66 years; daughter and her husband, Debby and Pete Greenlaw of Prosperity, SC; son and his wife, Denny and Debbie Trautman of Enola, PA; grandchildren, Brandon Trautman, Kristen (Cory) Nelson, Jehnna Trautman, Victoria Trautman, Brian (Kathy) Greenlaw and Matthew (Amanda) Greenlaw; great grandchildren, Jackson Nelson, Dale and Cheyanne Greenlaw, Amelia, Camille and Luke Greenlaw; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Trautman. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings and their spouses, Grace (Joseph) Kocay, Vera (Charles) Percy and David Trautman. Services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in the chapel of Montours Cemetery, Robinson Township, PA.
