Obituary

George Wallace "Poe" Duncan 80 of 2809 Fair Ave. Newberry widower of Nell W. Duncan died at his residence September 16 2005.Mr. Duncan was born on April 22 1925 in Chester County a son of the late George W. and Athea Holder Duncan. He was a retired employee from Kendall Company Oakland Plant and also worked for Senior Catering. He was a member of Lewis United Methodist Church. Mr. Duncan is survived by daughter Susan D. Lee of Prosperity; two sons Kip Duncan of Newberry and Biff Duncan of Piedmont; two sisters Ann Henderson of Rock Hill and Dot Duncan of Chester; one brother Ray Duncan of Rock Hill; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceased by two sons Charles Jonathan Duncan and Earl Wayne Duncan and a great grandson Genesis Duncan.Memorial services was held at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church on Sunday at 4:00 P. M.Private gravesides service were Tuesday at 2:00 P.M for friends and family at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.Memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church 1105 First St. Newberry SC 29108.Messages to the family may be sent via email at notes@whitakerfuneralhome.com.Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry is assisting the family.
