The Last Pine Standing
Georgette Della DuTart Livingston of Newberry, SC died Monday, March 2, 2026, at the age of 83.
Georgette was the widow of Dr. Robert E. Livingston, III. She was a graduate of Moultrie High School and was a certified x-ray technician. Georgette was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Newberry and a member of The Huguenot Society of South Carolina.
In addition to her husband, Bobby, she is predeceased by her daughter, Sunie Elizabeth Livingston Boozer; her parents, Philip Pepper DuTart and Frances Johnson DuTart; her brothers, Philip P. DuTart, Jr. and James A. DuTart; and her sisters, Mary Ann Silver, Frances D. Condon and Burness O. McCormack.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Livingston, IV and daughter-in-law Rebecca; grandchildren, Andrew, Ledare, and Philip; sister-in-law, Pauline Livingston Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
Georgette was always up for an adventure. As a young girl, she and her siblings would spend hours playing in the surf at Little Beach in Mt. Pleasant. As a teenager, she drove across the old Cooper River Bridge on a telephone book before she had a license. As an adult, she continued her adventures with the love of her life, Bobby, for 57 years. Georgette and Bobby were two peas in a pod; most folks couldn’t mention one without mentioning the other. Even to their grandchildren, they were “Mister and Miz”. Their lives were full of love and happy times with family, friends, and many dogs.
While Georgette supported Bobby, she also lived a life of service to her community. She was the den mother to the Cub Scouts and Brownies, a flower show judge, a Meals on Wheels volunteer with Pat Kelly, and a devoted and active member in her church. She and a close group of friends; Marjean Hughes, Dada Verner, Kathy Summer, Joed Thomas, Libby Johnson and Hazel Dean, who had a very special bond, celebrating and comforting each other throughout life, in good times and in bad.
Georgette will be remembered fondly as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an amazing cook, preparing the best roast beef, which family members still strive to replicate. We will miss the way she always said “I love you with my whole heart” and her surprise “gooses”. We will forever remember her fun-loving spirit and sweet hugs. May she have endless days driving around Newberry in her silver Volkswagen with her most beloved dog, Cinnabar, and endless evenings sitting on her porch at the Secret Garden with Bobby, watching the sun set.
A Graveside service will be conducted by the Reverend Matthew Titus at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry on Sunday, March 8 at 2pm. The family will receive friends afterwards in the cemetery.
A special thank you goes to all the care givers who helped take care of Mom: the staff at The Lowman Home, Be Well (Myiesha, Marjorie, Saniah, and Venus) and BrightStar (Pam, Kay, and Tashi).
Memorials can be made to The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1515 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to serve the Livingston family.
