Gerald E. White, 93, of White Rock, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at his residence.
Born on September 1, 1923 in Mohnton, PA, he was the son of the late John LeRoy and Miriam Musser White.
Mr. White graduated from Albright College and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He was a tank commander during the war. He retired as a safety engineer for the Cabot Corp.
He was a lifelong member of St. James UCC in Pennsylvania and belonged to the American Legion Post 193 in Chapin. He also was a former member of the Boy Scout Board, the Hope Rescue Board, and the Jaycees.
Mr. White is survived by his children, Nancy Graham (John) of Irmo and Barry White (Kitty) of Inman; grandchildren, Nichole Lowder, Coty Campbell, Chris White, and Lisa Baker; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Betty Burkey White.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Monday, October 17, 2016 in the Chapel at the Heritage at Lowman in White Rock, SC by the Rev. Dr. Derald Edwards.
Interment will be Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors at 2:00 PM Monday.
