Gideon David "Auggie" Irons was born February 9, 2011 in Cherkasy, Ukraine and passed away on March 22, 2017.
Auggie lived his first four and a half years in an orphanage, never having a visitor until being adopted by Christy and Nigel Irons on August 31, 2015. Christy and Nigel located Auggie on a website called Reece's Rainbow, an organization that helps find families for international children with special needs. They fell in love with him at first sight.
He was a social butterfly, the happiest child with the biggest smile, and always ready for a picture to be taken. He loved his siblings, loved being held, especially by his mother, adored books, but never grew to like sleeping or riding in the car.
The family expresses sincere thankfulness to Auggie's "legs", also known as Sam Terrell. Sam loved and cared for Auggie as her own. Her sacrifices and true love of Auggie will always be remembered and appreciated more than she could ever imagine.
Auggie will be missed and remembered by his parents, Nigel and Christy Irons; his siblings, T.C., Celee, Judsen, Joseph, Mia, Corban, Asher, and Adam Irons; his grandparents, George and Karen Milner and Charles and Joye Irons; and all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and precious friends.
His memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25th at 4:00 pm at Newspring Church, 1306 SC-72, Greenwood, SC.
His family asks that donations in memory of Auggie be sent to Reece's Rainbow online at http://reecesrainbow.org/howtogive or by mail at Reece's Rainbow, P.O. Box 146 Combined Locks, WI 54113.
Whitaker Funeral Home of Newberry is assisting the family.
