Glenn Allen Millsaps Sr. 65 of Alex Avenue Newberry died Wednesday November 30 2011. Born on April 1 1946 in Columbia he was a son of the Lillie Mae Campbell Millsaps and the late Charles Thomas Millsaps. Allen served in the United States Army where he performed two tours in the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. He was a member of West End Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the Shriners and was a Mason. He enjoyed running and exercising and loved spending time with his family especially his granddaughter. Mr. Millsaps is survived by his wife of 37 years Belivia Kitty Kibler Millsaps; son Glenn Allen (Heather) Millsaps II of Simpsonville; granddaughter Sarah Grace Millsaps; sisters Rita (Howard) Jarrell of Asheville NC and Shelly Davis of Columbia; brothers David (Maria) Millsaps of Prosperity and Chuck (Bernice) Millsaps of Statesville NC. Funeral services were held on Sunday December 4 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. David Lyles. Interment with military honors did follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Don Layton Ray Weible Dean Coward Dell Rowe Danny Abrams Jim Boomer Hunter and Danny Camp. Honorary pallbearers were all of the men of West End Baptist Church Austin Crawford Roger Dale R.D. Longshore Michael Kade Perkins Andy Dell Rowe Chase Hamilton Folk Joshua Paul Chapman and Max Hutchinson.
