Graveside services for Glenn Alan Moyd, 56, who died on Monday, May 21, 2018, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 in Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville, SC. The Rev. Carl Hunsucker will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home and also Friday following the graveside service.
A native of Hartsville, Alan was the third of four sons born to the late Dr. Pickens Kinard Moyd and Mrs. Deryl Dean Dempsey Moyd. A devout Christian and member of Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia, Alan was a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C., and Darlington School in Rome, Ga. He also attended Thomas E. Hart Academy in Hartsville.
Alan began his career in commercial real estate in 1984 with Chicora Development in Myrtle Beach, and, in 1990, he moved to Columbia to work with Newmark Grubb Wilson Kibler, Inc., where he remained for 26 years. Most recently he worked for RE/MAX Advantage Group of Columbia. He was a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) as well as a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.
Alan is survived by his beloved children; Jackson Tanner Moyd and Sara-Kinard Moyd, from his marriage to Suzanne Moyd Crosthwaite; and Matthew Alan Moyd, Catherine Collins Moyd, and Andrew Pickens Moyd, from his marriage to Fran Cromer Gray. He is also survived by his dear mother and brothers, Ken (Diana), David (Lee) and John (Suzy), all of Hartsville, and several nieces and nephews.
