Gloria Jean Morris Wessinger, 73, of Chapin died Friday, July 1, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family after a short, unexpected battle with terminal cancer.
Born on October 19, 1948, in Columbia, she is a daughter of the late Wallace Melvin and Grace Elizabeth Earnest Morris.
Gloria worked for Bank of Trust for many years before joining her husband, Delbert, at the family business, Wessinger Appliance. She worked behind the scenes helping with the office and scheduling functions of the business. Their daughter, Lisa, joined the business full time in 2008 and currently runs the business with Delbert.
She is a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Her faith gave her strength throughout her life, and especially as she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, "Ready to open the doors of heaven."
Gloria was loving, caring, and kind. She loved to crochet and made afghans for family, friends, shut-ins, and many who were sick. She was a wonderful mother, "top of the line" sister, and a loving wife. Gloria loved yellow roses and hummingbirds.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Delbert Wessinger; daughter, Lisa Wessinger of Chapin; sister, Bonita Marie Morris of TN; step-sister Patricia Maner of Columbia, SC, nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and her beloved dog, Amy.
