Gordon E. Jones, 79, of Chapin, died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at his residence. Born on October 20, 1938 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Walter D. and Bessie Beulah Jones. Gordon was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was proud to be a part of the ground-breaking crew at Walt Disney World and retired after 34 years of service. Family was first and foremost for Gordon. He is survived by his wife Nancy Sibert Jones, to whom he was married for 53 years; two daughters, Kimberly Swieringa of Chapin and Allison Richter of Little Mountain; two sons-in-law, John Swieringa and Jimmie Richter; four grandchildren, Lindsey and Jordon Swieringa and twins Sydney and Reagan Richter. Gordon is also survived by siblings and their spouses, Morris Jones of Newberry, Randall and Joyce Jones of Leesville, Hugh and Kay Jones of Little Mountain and Dorothy Jones of Newberry; brothers-in-law and spouses, Glenn and Norma Sibert of Paisley, FL and David Sibert of Chapin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, James, Don and Mac Jones; and sister-in-law, Jane Jones. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Bobby Morris.
