Mr. Gordon S. Whitlock Sr. age 70 husband of Bessie S. VioletWhitlock of 1054 SC Hwy 66 Whitmire SC died Monday May 2 2011 at Hospice of Laurens. Mr. Whitlock was born in Union County SC September 27 1940 a son of the late J.B. Whitlock and Doris Louise Clay. He was owner operator of Whitmire Truck Stop and was a member of Gods Healing Springs Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters: Sylvia Lisa Whitlock of Whitmire Gail Bowie of Jonesville Glenda J. Martin of Pellion Lynn Ellenburg of Central and Michelle Whitlock of Jonesville; four sons: Tony Jones of Newberry Mitchell Trammell of Cross Keys Keith Whitlock and Gordon Whitlock Jr. both of Michigan; a sister Judy Taylor of Clinton; a brother Jerry Whitlock of Whitmire; a step-father Charles E. Clay of Whitmire; twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. Mr. Whitlock was predeceased by a daughter Cheryl Lyons; a grandson Charles Black.; a sister Maxine Whitlock and three brothers: Billy Joe Whitlock James Whitlock and Ronnie Whitlock. Funeral services were held 3:00 PM Wednesday May 4 2011 at Gods Healing Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Wayne Tobias. Burial was in Lee Cemetery.
