Grover Wallace "Wally" French III, 81 of Newberry died at White Oak Manor, Saturday, June 24, 2023

Born on August 25, 1941 in Newberry, he was the son of the late Grover Wallace French II and Sarah Lively.

After attending Newberry Highschool, Wally served in the United States Army from 1959 – 1965 receiving an Honorable Discharge when his time of service ended. After his time in the Army, he worked for various companies as a heavy machine operator until his retirement. He could operate many different types of equipment; the track hoe was what he enjoyed and was the best doing!

Wally enjoyed all things western, including books, movies and western tv series from the fifties and sixties. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved watching Clemson Tiger football. He loved the New York Yankees more. Above all else, he loved his family, and we loved him in return.

Survivors include his children, Darlene Branham (Jody) of Chester, Kevin Jordan (Laura) of Lancaster, John Jordan of Fort Lauderdale, Tanya French (Candace) of Ridgeway and Wally French (Whitney) of Tigerville; grandchildren, Caitlin, Jordan, Seth, Preston, Harper, Shelby and Lane; great-granddaughter, Lilah Mae; and a sister, Pam Brown of Myrtle Beach.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Gail Hysner, and his beloved wife, Judy Caldwell French.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jeff O'Dell on Wednesday, June 28, 2023,  2:30PM at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Whitaker Funeral Home.
