Harold Parsons, age 95, of Chapin and formerly of Somerville, MA where he lived for 75 years, died Sunday, July 30, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Born October 21, 1927 in Manitowoc, WI, he was a son of the late Roy L. and Thelma D. Brown Parsons.

Mr. Parsons was a Navy Veteran of World War II. After his service in the US Navy, he worked as a mechanic specializing in heavy utility vehicles, in the Army National Guard, retiring as Master Seargent with the 101st Division.

He was a good Dad, never raising his voice. He could fix anything, was good natured and went along with the flow. After retirement, he and Dorothea traveled cross country, driving every mile of it. One of his favorite pasttimes was to simply putter around the house, and if not his, one of his children's.

Mr. Parsons is survived by his children Carol McCord of Chapin, Wayne Parsons (Lora) of Londonderry, NH, and JoAnn Murray (John) of Chapin; grandsons Robert McCord and Peter Fee; great-grandchildren Morgan Lockey, Mikayla Moulton, Avery McCord, Marcus Parsons, and Thomas Costello; and great great-grandsons Liam Kennedy and Jon Michael Lockey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothea Johnson Parsons; brothers, Dale Parsons and Larry Parsons; and son-in-law, Robert McCord.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 3, 2023, 3:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home, Chapin. Interment will take place at a later date at Cape Cod National Cemetery.
