Harold V. Leavell 91 of Hwy 121 Newberry died Sunday August 5 2012 at his residence. Funeral services were at 3:00 PM Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Newberry conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon. Interment with military honors did follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was in the church Social Hall from 1:00 2:30 PM Wednesday prior to the service. Mr. Leavell was born in Saluda on February 14 1921 a son of the late Rowland Leavell and the late Hassie Bolton Leavell Lipscomb. He was a U.S. Army veteran having proudly served his country in WWII and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. He received a degree in electronics from Newberry College had previously owned Leavells Radio and TV and later on was the owner of Leavells Azalea Farm and Gift Shop. Mr. Leavell is survived by his wife of 66 years Lillian Brock Leavell; daughter Debra Debbie Leavell of Newberry; brother John W. J.W. Leavell of Newberry and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Wilson Leavell Rowland Leavell Jr. and Henry B. Leavell. Pallbearers were Danny Roton Ricky Roton Jody Yarbrough Benji Leavell Bill Leavell Ed Lominack Travis Kinard Jack Foster and Danny Clark.
