Hattie Lougene Sheely, 86, of Ballentine died Thursday, July 29, 2021.
She was born on September 18, 1934, in Hemingway, SC she was the daughter of the late Jacob Baker and Inez Newell Lawrimore.
Lougene married William C. Sheely, Jr. For more than 64 years, they created a life together as his military career took the family all around the world before finally settling back in Ballentine. Lt. Col. William C. Sheely, Jr. died on June 29, 2021, and has undoubtedly spent the last month helping prepare a loving place for he and his bride.
Lougene served as nurse working in Baptist Hospital in Columbia for many years. She was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She and William were members of the Camping Club. Lougene enjoyed many hobbies such as quilting and needlestitch, but her central passion was taking care of her boys and their families and supporting her husband in his endeavors.
She is survived by her sons, William C. Sheely, III of Kernersville, NC and Michael S. Sheely and wife Susan Pasky Sheely of Destin, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Lynn (Jeremy) Potter of Raleigh, W. Curtis (Kathrine Margaret) Sheely, IV of Charlotte, E. Michael (Jenna Amell) Sheely of Destin, and W. Scott (Katherine Santa Cruz) Sheely of Dunwoody, GA.; great-grandchildren, Addison Lynn Potter, Jackson Henry Potter, William C. Sheely, V., and Crew Everett Sheely; and brothers, Jacob Baker and Gary Lawrimore both of Florence, SC, Roger Lawrimore of Hemingway, SC, and Terry Lawrimore of Virginia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Lawrimore.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Megan Lineberger held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall one hour prior to the service. A private interment will take place at the church cemetery at a later time.
