Helen Koon Foy 87 widow of J. W. Foy died Tuesday September 30 2008 at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton S.C. She was born on March 18 1921 in Saluda the daughter of the late Kirksey R. and Julia Mae Boozer Koon. She retired from the Newberry County Health Department after 34 years of service. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a former member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for 38 years. She was also a former member of the Neil Truesdell Sunday School Class Circle III and the Upper Room Living Prayer Group #1233. Mrs. Foy is survived by her daughter Nancy Foy Bedenbaugh and husband Lewis of Prosperity; her son James Robin Foy and wife Glenda of Columbia; three grandchildren Neil Robin Foy Cassie Rae Foy and Tyla Bedenbaugh Bowers; three great-grandchildren Laban James Bowers Kellen Chase Foy and Coby Lane Foy; and nephews Kirksey D. Koon of Newberry and Ramie R. Koon of Columbia. She was predeceased by a brother Raymond Lee Koon. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 A.M. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Eric Fink. Interment was in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Memorials may be made to Samaritans Purse P.O.
