IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry C.
Christopher, Jr.
November 18, 1937 – March 26, 2025
Henry C. "Chris" Christopher, Jr., 87, of Chapin, SC, died March 26, 2025. Born November 18, 1937, in Gadsden, Alabama, a son of the late Henry C. and Mary Clark (Huron) Christopher, Sr.
Chris grew up in Fort Payne, Alabama. When he was a teenager, the family moved to a farm outside of Fort Payne where he fell in love with horses, the land, riding his tractor and caring for all of the animals. Most mornings he woke to the sound of his sister Charlotte playing Rachmaninoff loudly on the Grand piano directly below his bedroom. Chris proudly served his country in the US Air Force for more than 20 years before retiring.
For many years Chris was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where he served on numerous committees. He very much enjoyed being a member of the Men's Club and all they accomplished. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 193, the Dutch Fork Choral Society, and the former Alabama Alumni Fan Club.
Chris was an avid Alabama and USC football fan and had a love of the game at all levels. His other hobbies included fishing, building projects around the house, and cherishing time with his family. He was also known for being a master storyteller, with a knack for embellishing the details. One of his favorite creations was a special story he wrote for his grandkids, titled Snig the Pig.
Chris is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary A., Chapin, SC; four children, Ryan (Christy) Ross, Duncan, SC; Ronda Berger, Chapin, SC; DeDe Christopher, Eugene Oregon; Randy (Julieta) Ross, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Kelly Patrick, Wichita, KS; six grandchildren, Chris Miller, Matt Miller, Rachael Berger, Riley (Thomas Rye) Berger, Kathryn Ross, Sarah Ross; siblings, Charlotte Christopher, Edmond, OK; Dr. Craig Christopher, Birmingham, AL; and Shannon Christopher Hastings, Daphne, AL.
