Howard Vernon "Robbie" Robinson, 89, of Columbia, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his residence. Born on March 22, 1929 in Newberry, he was a son of the late James and Sara Jester Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a US Navy Veteran. He worked many years as a lineman, retiring from SCE&G. Robbie was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Columbia and a member of the Boyleston Masonic Lodge #123. He loved traveling and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Rick) Livingston of Newberry; sons, Scott (Rhonda) Robinson of West Columbia and Mike Robinson of Columbia; grandchildren, Stephanie Holmes, Brandon McGuire, Taylor Livingston, Michael Robinson, Megan Robinson, and Justin Robinson; great-grandson, Logan McGuire; two step grandchildren, Kayla Hancock and Haley Priester; step great-grandchildren, Raine, Grayson and Taryn; and siblings, Ann (Ken) Marshal of Anderson, Ivy (Lee) Sauble of Thurmont, MD, and Sherry (Gene) Bowers of Hagerstown, MD. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Bobbie Patterson Robinson; son, Steve Robinson; and brother, Fred Robinson. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Kathy R. Livingston, 867 Hillbrook Lane, Newberry, and will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Bush River Memorial Gardens, Columbia. Pallbearers will be Brandon McGuire, Michael Robinson, Justin Robinson, Rick Livingston, and Mike Long.
