Ida Virginia Vello, 90, of Chapin, South Carolina, died Monday morning, July 15, 2024, at the Heritage at Lowman in Chapin.

Ida was born January 20, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Carl Eckman and the late Lois Messias Eckman. She was married to the late Julio "Frank" Vello.

Ida was a devoted Kindergarten teacher's aide, working for 30 years at Lugoff Elementary School. Throughout her career she dearly enjoyed teaching the children in her class. She also loved spending time with her family.

Ida is survived by her daughter, Susan Strain and sons, Michael Vello and David Vello. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren and her 2 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday morning, August 9, 2024, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Committal services will take place at 1:00 PM, Friday afternoon, August 9, 2024, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
