Iva Jean Donaldson Thompson, 91, of Chapin, SC, died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Generations of Chapin.
Born on February 12, 1926 in Brownsville, PA, she was a daughter of the late James R. and Maude Bakewell Donaldson.
In 1998, several years after the death of her beloved husband, Mrs. Thompson moved to Chapin, SC. After spending some time in Chapin, she moved to California and lived near her sister for five years, eventually returning to Chapin.
While she was able, Mrs. Thompson attended Chapin Baptist Church and often visited Chapin Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed playing card games, gathering with friends, and listening to the singers that visited Generations.
She is survived by her sons, J. Robin Thompson (Jill L.) of Chapin, SC and James Edward Thompson, Sr. (Noreen L.) of Tracey, CA; grandchildren, James Edward Thompson, Jr., Matthew Todd Thompson, and Leslie Anne Thompson; and great-grandchildren, James Edward Thompson, III, Rebecca Nicole Thompson, Cheyenne D. Bammer, Cassandra D. Bammer, Victoria L. Bammer, Leah Thompson, Jasmine Thompson, and Julian Cox.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Carl Thompson, Jr.; granddaughter, Patricia Ann Thompson Bammer; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM, Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Generations of Chapin conducted by the Rev. Brett DeYoung and at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Chapin Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Josh Vahle and Rev. Marcus Jackman.
Burial will be held at a later date in Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, 401 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.
The family suggests memorials be made to Chapin We Care Center, 1800 Chapin Road, Chapin, SC 29036.
