J. Leroy Wessinger 94 formerly of Little Mountain died May 10 2011 at the Heritage at Lowman in White Rock. He was born on April 20 1917 in Chapin SC a son of the late Jonas Levi and Elvie Fulmer Wessinger. He was raised by his step-mother Essie Taylor Wessinger following the death of his birth mother. Mr. Wessinger was a retired poultry and livestock farmer and was also a beekeeper. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Chapin where he served several terms on Church Council. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and had previously served on the Farmers Mutual Insurance Board. He also enjoyed traveling. Mr. Wessinger is survived by his wife of 70 years Mildred W. Wessinger; daughters Faye (Harold) Rickard and Elvia (Albert) Lindler both of Chapin; sons Charles (Mary) Wessinger of Chapin and Dwain (Dale) Wessinger of Little Mountain; brother Carol Wessinger of Newberry; sister Irene Coward of Gallatin TN; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings Esther L.E. Pearl Terrell J.D. Ezra Leo and Kernie. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Chapin by the Rev. David Tholstrup. Interment did follow in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Little Mountain. The family dld receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapin. .
