J. Roland Dickert 85 of Newberry died Saturday November 8 2008 in Hendersonville NC.He was born on August 22 1923 in Newberry a son of the late Yancy T. and Annie Sligh Dickert. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was a member of Lewis United Methodist Church.He is survived by 2 sisters Harriett Smith of Winston-Salem NC and Mary Louise Smith of Freehold NJ; two sisters-in-law Ellen Dickert and Lera Dickert both of Newberry; and a number of nieces and nephews including his caregiver Ronnie Dickert Sr. He was predeceased by sisters Roberta D. West and Nellie Blanche Dickert; brothers Yancy J. "Jack" Dickert William G. "Bill" Dickert and Daniel C. "Dan" Dickert; and his step-mother Elise Nash Dickert.Funeral services were conducted at 5:00 P.M. Monday in the Whitaker Funeral Home chapel by the Rev.
