Jack W. Whitesides 68 husband of Paulette Whitaker Whitesides died Tuesday November 19 2013 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday November 22 2013 in Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Tresco Shannon and the Rev. Michael W. Whitesides. Burial did follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family was at the residence 16 Woodlake Dr. in Newberry and did receive friends from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Jack was born on September 17 1945 in Columbia a son of Elaine Summer Whitesides and the late James W. Jimmy Whitesides Sr. He was an active member of Central United Methodist Church participated in numerous committees and served as an usher and communion usher. He especially enjoyed being a part of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Jack was a graduate of Newberry College where he was a member of the ATO fraternity. He was a member and served as team captain for the college baseball team received Honorable Mention as Little All America in Baseball and later was inducted into the Newberry College Hall of Fame. He was a founding member of the Lettermans Club and served as its first President. His professional career was with the R. L. Bryan Company where he was former Senior Vice President of the company as well as former General Manager of the Printing Division. He also served on the Board of the Printing Industry of the Carolinas Inc. (PICA). Following his career at R.L. Bryan he worked for Electric City Printing and Service Printing. He was a former chairman of the Newberry County Easter Seal campaign. Jack is survived by his wife Paulette W. Whitesides of Newberry; his mother Elaine Whitesides of Orangeburg; sons Michael Wayne Whitesides (Carlette) Douglas Walker Whitesides (Dena Jacob) and Kevin William Whitesides (Brandy) all of Newberry; grandchildren Beverly MacKenzie Whitesides Douglas Coleman Whitesides Kenneth James Whitesides Grant Walker Whitesides and Hadyn Theresa Jacob; brothers James W Whitesides Jr. and Jerry W. Whitesides (Linda) both or Orangeburg Joey W. Whitesides (Theresa) of Graniteville and Jeffrey W. Whitesides (Jennifer) of Lexington. In addition to his father he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul W. and Helen P. Whitaker. Pallbearers were John Paul Whitaker Bob Dawkins Dr. James Williams Keith Ringer Tom Ringer Richard Lindler and Frankie Shipley.
