James Gordon Dissel, Jr., 71, of Newberry died on Monday, July 29, 2019.
Born on September 29, 1947 in Craven County, NC, he was a son of the late James and Julia Lucille Daugherty Dissel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Terry Russo Dissel; twin sister Judy C. Dissel; and sister-in-law Tessie C. Dissel
He is survived by his daughter, Natalie Hudson (Jeffrey) of Columbia; sisters, Debbi Robbins of Charlottesville, VA and Shannon Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, John P. Dissel and step-daughter, Jamie (Ivory) Green of Newberry; grandchildren, Brandon, Nadia and Trey Green; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his dear friend Dorothy Vernon of Virginia Beach, VA. He will be dearly missed by all.
James served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a hero.
He worked as an outside machinist at Norshipco in Norfolk, VA. Following retirement, he was able to enjoy his life in peace.
Services are planned for his remains to be interred in Arlington National Cemetery. Date and time will be announced at a later date.
