James Elbert Ringer Sr. of Aiken went to be with his Lord on March 3 2015 at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro. He was 96 years old. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Friday in Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. James Counts. James was born to the late B.P. and Ellie Mae Dickert Ringer on Jan. 26 1919 in Newberry. He was a graduate of Newberry High School and Newberry College. He earned his Masters Degree in Education at the University of South Carolina. He served his country as a sergeant in the Army Air Corp. during WW II. He returned home after the war to resume his career in the South Carolina educational system. During his career which spanned 42 years James served in the capacities Coach Teacher High School Principal Area Superintendent of Schools County Personal Director and County Transportation Director. His favorite jobs were always the ones with the most direct involvement with students. His two passions truly were his family and the education of our young people. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Elizabeth Boozer Ringer; brother Carl Bunyon Ringer and his first grandchild James Brett Ringer. His surviving family includes his children Sarah R. Bragg (Roger) and Jim Ringer; former daughter-in-law Nancy Zygadlo Ringer; grandchildren Jason Zygadlo Ringer Mathew Ringer Bragg and his sweetie Savanah Grace Bragg.
