James H. "Jay" Lucas 72 of 2432 Fair St. Newberry widower of Dolly Ann Jeffcoat Lucas died Sunday November 04 2007 at his residence.He was born on September 19 1935 in Columbia a son of the late Henry T. and Minie Shiver Lucas. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was the owner of James Lucas general Contracting. He was a member of Glenn Street Baptist Church the Newberry Country Club; and the Newberry Moose Lodge. He is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law Keith & Martha Lucas and David and Christine Lucas all of Newberry James Lucas of Prosperity Kenny and Lynn Lucas of Whitmire and Lloyd Lucas of Newberry; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.Memorial service was conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Glenn Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Jeff O'Dell and the Rev. Erskine Shiver.Visitation was from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
