James Henry Davis 86 formerly of 2217 Henry Ave. Newberry widower of Beatrice Bea Kennerley Davis died Friday September 23 2005.Mr. Davis was born in Newberry a son of the late Walter H. and Myra Sligh Davis. He was a Marine veteran of WW II and was a retired businessman. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church the Mens Sunday School Class and he was a 50-year member of the Newberry Rotary Club. He was a former Scout Master for Troop 222 and was a former Volunteer Fireman with the Newberry Fire Department. Mr. Davis is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law Barbara D. and Ralph Jones of Mauldin Diane D. and Boyd Buck Webber of Prosperity and Linda D. Byrd and her fiance James G. Hudson of Anderson; a son and daughter-in-law James Kennerley "Ken" and Amelia Monts Davis of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren Jerome Jones Lee Shinn Lori Anne McDonald Michael Shinn Sharon Cunningham James Shinn Melanie Shinn Melinda Edwards Susan Davis Paige Byrd and Andy Davis; 11 great grandchildren; and two sisters Myra D. Phillips of Spartanburg and Nell D. Bohannan of XeniaOH. He was predeceased by two sisters Macie King and Faye Cooper and two brothers Heyward Davis and John Davis Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home by the Rev. John Miller. Entombment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 4:00 to 5:00 P. M. Sunday at the funeral home.
