James "Jim" Coleman Floyd, Jr., 78, of Newberry, died on November 17, 2024, at his residence.

He was born in Newberry on December 10, 1945, a son of the late James Coleman Floyd, Sr. and the late Madge Brittan Floyd. He was married to the late Carol A. Floyd for 53 Years.

Jim was a graduate of Newberry High School, class of 1963 and of Newberry College, class of 1967. He continued his education at Southern Methodist Law School in Dallas, Texas, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1970. Jim was proud of his law degree and practiced corporate law in California from 1970 until his retirement in 1993. In addition to his legal work, he was a restaurant owner and landlord.

Jim appreciated the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in nature whenever he could especially with his beloved wife, Carol. He was an avid fisherman, especially enjoying fly fishing, and found pleasure in hunting, camping and hiking. Jim loved animals, especially his pet dogs and cats.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Martin and her husband, Jean Francois Martin; granddaughter, Isabelle Sage Martin; and his brother, Jonathan Floyd.

A gathering to celebrate Jim's life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2024 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
