James "Jim" Gabriel Mominee, 91, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024.
Born to Florence (Yeupell) and Doris Edward Mominee, James was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force from April 1, 1953, to March 31, 1957. He was recently honored with a Quilt of Valor on Veterans Day 2024 for his dedicated service. Following his military career, James retired from Sun Oil Refinery in Toledo, Ohio. He and his beloved wife of 71 years, Joan Burdett Mominee, shared many adventures, including boating, woodcarving, hunting, working with marine canvas, their love for animals and years traveling the US in their RV. His favorite tool was electrical tape. Eventually, they settled in Chapin, South Carolina, to be near their eldest daughter.

A private family viewing will be held at Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin, South Carolina, on Thursday, December 19, 2024. James will be laid to rest at Saint Ignatius Catholic Cemetery in Oregon, Ohio. In his own words "Better here than in the south!"
He is now enjoying his homemade mash potatoes along with his other favorite meals from Ohio.
We love you Papa 2!
