James Jimmy Mitchem Jr. 70 of Prosperity died Saturday February 21 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be on Tuesday February 24 2015 at 11:00 AM at Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Born on September 1 1944 in Augusta GA he was a son of the late James Jim Mitchem Sr. and Fannie Lou Hudson Mitchem. He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War and was retired from American Fiber and Finishing. Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church in Edgefield and a former member of the Newberry Moose Lodge. He was an outdoorsman quite the dancer and loved playing golf and picking his guitar. Mr. Mitchem is survived by his wife Agnes Mitchem; children Shawn Mitchem (Ashleigh) of Prosperity and James E. Tiger Mitchem III (Dawn) of Chapin; brother Russell Mitchem of North Augusta and grandchildren Maycee and Kolbie Mitchem.
