James "Jimmy" Ralph Owens, 85, of Chapin died Sunday, May 8, 2022 at his residence.
Born on November 20, 1936 in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Margaret Joseph Pinson and Ralph Turner Owens.
Jimmy spent a career as a sales associate at Sears and later owned and operated O'Kelly's convenience store in Eastover. Still unfilled, he combined his experience in sales with his lifelong passion for cars and opened his own business, Owens Auto Sales, in Chapin. He was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church.
He was known for his great sense of humor and always had a comeback for anything. Above all else, he was a devoted father and husband and his family was the most important thing in his life.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Green Owens; daughter, Meg Schelble (Pat); son, Kevin Owens (Leslie); grandchildren, Kelsey Schelble Conner (Cody), Patrick Schelble, and Eric Schelble; great-grandchildren, Avery Ann Conner and Brady James Conner; and brother, Pinson Owens.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Chapin United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Jody Flowers and Rev. Paul Allen. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 10 AM, at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, SC 29036.
Messages and memories may be shared with the family here on his tribute page.
