Obituary

James Ray Jim King 69 of Newberry SC died Saturday May 30 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Albert Allen. Visitation will be on Monday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence 12160 SC Highway 121 Newberry. Jim was born in Newberry SC on June 27 1945 a son of the late James W. and Jenell Stockman King. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era was an Ordained Southern Baptist minister and was a retired accountant for AgFirst Farm Credit Bank. He was a member of the First Baptist Church the 50 Plus Fellowship and the Friends in Faith Sunday School Class. Also he was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina a true NASCAR fan and an avid collector of old coins and Coke memorabilia. Jim loved to travel across the U.S. but most importantly he was a loving family man who especially loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Debbie Briggs Lindsey King of the home; children Robbie King (Claudette) of Lexington and Joyce Eargle (Earl) of Irmo; step-children Ryan Lindsey of Mooresville NC and Renee Lindsey Mowder of Prosperity; grandchildren Ryan and Cory King Brittany and Jessica Eargle Jacob & Phillip Woodruff Kayla Lindsey Jeremy Stanley and Joshua Dean; and Great grandchildren Jaxon Lankford and Anthony Price. He was predeceased by his brothers Fred Steve and Michael King. Active pallbearers will be Gary Pye Jim Jetton Jim Edwards Steve Crocker Justin Joslyn and his grandsons Ryan King Cory King Jacob Woodruff and Phillip Woodruff.
