Jane Grimison Riggin 75 of 2023 Main St. died Friday November 3 2006 at her residence. Her smile shone on all those around her and brought joy to everyone.She was born on December 18 1930 in Allentown PA and was a daughter of the late Edwin Douglas and Estelle Wissinger Grimson. Jane was a retired first grade teacher with Newberry Academy educating children for over 25 years. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer a member of the Church Choir a volunteer and volunteer coordinator for the Newberry Opera House. She was a past president of the Newcomer Club Fine Arts Club and Newberry College Faculty Women's Club.Mrs. Riggin is survived by her daughter Kathleen Ione Riggin of Newberry; two sons Douglas Staunton Riggin of Buffalo NY and Thomas Hancock Riggin of Irmo; three sisters Cecil Woodman Thompson of Huntington L. I. NY Ruth Woodman Czar Paultney Vt and Ann Woodman Shoemaker of Indian Springs AL; three grandchildren Ryan Riggin Jeffery Riggin and Sarah Elizabeth Mei Riggin. She was predeceased by her parents her foster parents H. Staunton and Cecil Cornwall Woodson and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Grimison and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wissinger. Jane lived life with an immeasurable zest. Her spirit fight and determination knew no bounds and her dignity and heart have been a inspiration beyond understanding. She smiled on every one. The Lord is her Shepherd.Funeral services were conducted 2:00 PM Monday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.Visitation was from 4:30 to 6:30 PM Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
