Jane Boozer Hipp, 77, of Cayce, died Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center.
Mrs. Hipp was born on December 25, 1938 in Newberry, a daughter of the late Ligon W. and Edith Hunnicutt Boozer. She graduated from Newberry High School where she was an outstanding basketball player
Jane was a psychiatric nurse for 30 years, retiring from Richland Springs Hospital. After her retirement she attended the University of South Carolina and was a part time cheerleader for the Gamecocks.
She enjoyed music and played numerous string instruments, primarily her ukulele. She also liked to sing to people and enjoyed driving her Jaguar.
Jane is survived by her husband of 59 years, Curtis Wesley Hipp. They married on December 19, 1956 and had 2 sons who were born in St Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC and she loved them dearly. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Craig W. Hipp of West Columbia; brother-in-law, Herbert Bickley of Newberry; sister-in-law Betty B. Lester of Newberry; her dogs, Princess, Poncho, Trouble, and Choo-Choo; and her cats Hot and Spot. She was predeceased by a son, Curtis "Curt" Hipp, Jr and siblings, Frances B. Bickley and Ernest Boozer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel in Newberry by the Rev. Joseph James, Jr. and the Rev. Shay L. Long. The family will receive friends after the funeral service.
