Jean Cromer Nichols, of Newberry died Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at White Oak Manor.
She was born on February 5, 1935 a daughter of the late Horace and Alice Summer Cromer.
Jean was a dedicated member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she served as part of the United Methodist Women and as Sunday School Treasurer. She was also an active member of the Women Jaycees. She worked for over 40 years as the bookkeeper for Cannon Construction Company.
She lived a simple and beautiful life, with family being the highest priority. Jean loved taking care of the flowers in her yard. In her spare time, she and her husband Bobby Ray enjoyed going to yard sales, auctions, and flea markets together. You would rarely see one without the other.
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Junior Parkman; grandchildren, Summer Parkman, Madalyn Parkman, and Joshua Warren Nichols; and great-grandchildren Andrew Bennett, Isaac Nichols, and Cyril Garrett, Jr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Bobby Ray Nichols; her son, Michael "Mike" Nichols; daughter-in-law, Charlene Nichols; grandchildren Jessica Nichols and Dylan Nichols; and brothers Lewis "Doc" Cromer and Tommy Cromer
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Jimmy Counts and Rev. Bruce Palmer, held on Saturday, October 22, 11:00 AM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 21, 5:30-7:00 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jim Cromer, Kevin Staub, Otis Taylor, Hugh Lister, Young Schumpert, and Josh Nichols. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the employees of Cannon Construction Company.
Memorials are suggested to Ebenezer United Methodist Church and Crescent Hospice.
