Jean Howard Warren, 92, passed away on June 27, 2018 at the Heritage at Lowman. She and her late husband, J, resided here since 1997. Jean worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Charlotte where she met her husband. They were married on September 20, 1947 and were happily married for 69 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and Grandmama. She enjoyed her grandchildren dearly and referred to them as her "dumplings". At night, they could hardly wait for "Grandmama" to lay down with them, help them say their prayers and rub their eyes, arms and backs until they fell asleep. Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Holly, NC for over 50 years. She was an active member, teaching Sunday School and helping with the youth programs. She was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class and the Women's Society. After relocating to the Heritage at Lowman, Jean and her husband became members of Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, SC. In later years, they attended services at the New Life Chapel located on the Heritage at Lowman campus. Jean taught kindergarten at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Holly, NC for over 20 years. She was a caring and loving teacher. Jean was born in Statesville, NC and later moved to Mt. Holly, NC. She was the last surviving child of the late Van Buren and Maude Howard. She was the youngest of 5 girls and 1 boy. Jean is survived by her son, Jeff Warren and his wife, Doris of Irmo, SC, and daughter, Vicki Warren Baddour and her husband, Jamie of Pinehurst, NC, 5 grandchildren, 7 great–grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by all more than anyone could imagine. It was Jean's request before J's death last July that they both be buried at the same time. To honor her wishes, retired Methodist Minister H. L. Talbert will conduct a graveside service for Jean and J at the Mount Holly Cemetery at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning, July 7, 2018. A memorial service for Jean will be conducted on Saturday afternoon, July 7 at 3:00 PM in the New Life Chapel located at the Heritage at Lowman, 2101 Dutch Fork Road, Chapin, SC by the Rev. Dr. Karen Young. A Celebration of Life reception will follow. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 140 N.
