Funeral services for Jeffrey Bryan McDonald 32 of Newberry were held at 3:00 PM Thursday August 25 2011 at Wiles Chapel on the Newberry College Campus by the Rev. Wayne Kannaday and the Rev. Ernie Worman. Interment did follow at Rosemont Cemetery. He was born on January 31 1979 in Knoxville TN a son of Joseph Agustus and Mary Grant McDonald of Newberry. Jeffrey moved to Newberry in 1981 where he attended Newberry High School. He was a member of the marching band and the tennis team. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of South Carolina. He was a skilled trumpet guitar and piano player. Jeffrey enjoyed composing music and also played in several bands. Jeffrey was the founder and co-owner of As Time Goes By an antiques store in Newberry. Customers appreciated him for his friendly manner and sense of humor. He was also a knowledgeable and enthusiastic collector of southern pottery. He had a love for animals and strongly supported animal rescue organizations. Jeffrey was a loyal friend and loving family member and touched many lives through his own life. In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother Christopher Grant McDonald of Newberry; aunt Elizabeth (Fred) Lines of Atlanta; uncles Bryan Morel Grant III and Lewis McDonald both of Atlanta; cousins Bryan Morel Grant IV Lauren McDonald Alexander Michael Hudson and Rand Lines Berry Maxwell Grant and family Pamela Showalter and family and Susan Summers all of Atlanta and Bunny Hackmeyer and family of Memphis TN. He is also survived by other loved family members and friends. Jeffrey was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Bryan Bitsy Morell Grant Jr. and Marie Cleveland Grant who were from Atlanta and paternal grandparents Dr. Lewis H. McDonald and Lois Reeves McDonald also of Atlanta. The family is at 1205 Reid St Newberry and invites friends to visit them there. Pallbearers will be Bobby Kunkle Ashley Summer Reyburn Lominack Shane Wicker Brad Summer Adrian "Age" Facendola Bryan M. Grant III and Bryan M. Grant IV.
