Jennings Bryan Slice 79 of 2485 Macedonia Church Road Prosperity died Saturday July 16 2011 at his residence. He was born on October 30 1931 in Lexington County a son of the late Decie Boland and Olin O. Slice. On Dec 15 1956 he married Katie Mae Mills. Mr. Slice served in the National Guard for twenty years and was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church where he served on several committees. He was a Hejaz Shriner and a member of the Little Mountain Masonic Lodge 281 for fifty years. In addition to his wife of nearly 55 years he is survived by his daughter Debra (Brian) Freund of Prosperity; son Mike (Eltis) Slice of Prosperity; five grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Mildred Prater of Joanna Ola Mae Ellisor of Chapin Pearl Cribb of West Columbia and Polly (EP) Rolland of Irmo; a brother John Adam (Kay) Slice of Florence; a number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets Missy Dinky Hot Shot and Rocky. He was predeceased by a son James F. Slice; sisters Mable Ellisor and Eva Slice Shealy; brothers Pat Slice and Franklin Slice. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Wako Cotney and the Rev. Scott Kierstead. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family was at the residence of Debra and Brian Freund 2565 Macedonia Church Road Prosperity and did receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry. Pallbearers were Leon Fulmer Sr. Leon Fulmer Jr. Richard Koon Jimmy Smith Rodney Bedenbaugh Daniel Seibert Rick Richardson and Freddy Cain. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Legacy Hospice.
