Jerry R. Hester 72 of Newberry died Tuesday May 12 2015 at Laurens County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Whitaker Funeral Home in Newberry conducted by Rev. Karen Carpenter Rev. Vernon Koon and Rev. Mark Wilkes. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at his daughters residence 104 Four K Rd. Clinton SC. Jerry was born in Newberry on June 10 1942 a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Hester and Gladys Bishop Hester. He was retired from Addy Dodge. His family was everything to him; his heart loved each of them. Jerry is survived by his children Tammy Bright (Grover) of Clinton and Reneea Hughes (Michael) of Waterloo; step-children Tammie Cox of Rockingham NC George and Steve Holley both of Leesville; brothers Eddie Hester of Clinton and Tony Hester of Newberry; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Reba Hester daughter Tracey Alford and brother Ted Hester. Pallbearers will be Michael Weeks Jr. Timothy Holley James Bright Bobby Bright Hope Walker and Homer Walker.
