Jewell Evelyn Mills Baker, 84, of Newberry, South Carolina, died Friday, August 15, 2025, at her daughter's home.

Born in Whitmire, SC, on December 15, 1940, Jewell was the daughter of the late Jonas William "J.W" Mills and Eunice Marjorie Dominick Mills. She was married to the late James Cay Baker.

Jewell was long time member of Bush River Baptist Church, where she worshiped her Lord and Savior. She often enjoyed listening to southern gospel music. Shopping was one of her favorite hobbies; you could have often found her in the make-up and jewelry section of any store. She loved and adored her family, but most of all, her grandkids held a special place in her heart.

Jewell loved to travel and had many adventures traveling with her husband; her favorite places to travel was always the beach. Anywhere that had water and sand brought her happiness.

She is survived by daughter, Sandra Baker Mosteller (Rev. Dr. Glenn); son, Allen Barron Baker (Theresa Knotts); grandchildren, Nicole "Nikki" Baker Williams (Mitch), Amanda "Amy" Baker Driggers (Robert) and Lindsay Baker; and great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Benton, Peyton Benton and Ryland Benton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her brother, Bernard "Pete" Mills

Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Rosemont Cemetery, Newberry. Officiated by Rev. Dr. Glenn Mosteller.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Graham, Chris Graham, Richard Baker, James Hill, Buddy Hill and Robbie Hill.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dean Trammell, Marty Nance, Roger Dale Trammell, Ronnie Ellison, Gerald Ellison, Ronnie Beck, Floyd Baker, Gene Baker and Phillip Baker.
