Joey R. Brooks, 60, of Little Mountain died after a brief illness on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. He spent his final days at home surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 17, 1962 in Newberry, he was the son of the late William Reginald "Reggie" and Letha Williamson Brooks.

He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a 1981 graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. Joey earned his Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineering degree at University of South Carolina and worked for 31 years at V.C. Summer Nuclear Station as a software engineer.

An accomplished acoustic guitar player and vocalist, Joey's passion was Bluegrass music. He enjoyed going to the beach, fishing, grilling, and cooking. He was especially famous for his heirloom turkey stew, acting as the "Stew-Meister" giving the final taste of approval.

Joey was a quiet and steadfast man, devoted to his family and dedicated to his work. He loved his wife and daughters fiercely, as well as his extended family. He was a very special person to many and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Melodi Faller Brooks; daughters, Hannah and Lylah Brooks; uncle, Henry Brooks; numerous cousins; and sister, Gena Turner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, April 29, 2023 by Rev. Randy Drafts at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pomaria. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   There will be a gathering of family and friends following the interment at the church fellowship hall.
