John Aaron Leopard 80 of Newberry SC died Tuesday October 25 2011 at his residence. Mr. Leopard was born on December 10 1930 in Newberry a son of the late D.P. Pete Leopard and Cleo Dehart Leopard. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from BellSouth. He was a dedicated member of West End Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Director and as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Mens Mission Organization and the choir. Survivors include his wife of 57 years Margaret Hendrix Leopard; daughters Lynn Hollingsworth of Columbia and Starr (Jay) Hockett of Prosperity; grandchildren Victoria Tori Hollingsworth Jessica Jessi Hockett and David Hockett; great grandchild Logan Meyer; sisters Fay (Donald) Bouknight of Irmo and Ann (Guy) Slice of Chapin; and brother Billy E. Leopard of Aiken. He was predeceased by daughters Buffy Marie Leopard and Johnette Leopard; sisters Catherine Humphries and Evelyn Lever; and brother D.P. Leopard Jr. Graveside funeral services with military honors was conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. David Lyles. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home Newberry.
