Obituary

John Bedenbaugh, 87, formerly of Prosperity, died on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Springfield Place in Newberry. Born on January 3, 1931 in Prosperity, he was a son of the late John Roscoe and Maude Boozer Bedenbaugh. He worked as a CPA for 40 plus years, working both as a public accountant and also for the City of Columbia. Mr. Bedenbaugh was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He was attached to the IX Corps as an aerial photo interpreter for the G-2 Section headquartered in Japan. He became an avid World War II buff and developed a strong appreciation for most everything about Japan. He loved his Lord and demonstrated his Christian love through his kind and gentle way with everyone. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Prosperity where he had served as chairman of the Congregational Council and additionally had taught Sunday school. He was also a supporter of Foreign Missions, especially broadcasting ministries and also the Vellore Hospital in Madras, India. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine and a half years, Carolyn "Judy" Mack Bedenbaugh; children, Kim and John Uhas of Atlanta, and Amy and Brian Rossett of Charlotte; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ruth Senn, Woodrow Bedenbaugh, James "J.R." Bedenbaugh, Mae Finley, Ollie Bedenbaugh, Robert Bedenbaugh and Mildred Wilson. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 30th, from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, 1704 College St., Newberry. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 31st, at Grace Lutheran Church in Prosperity conducted by the Rev. Michael Price. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Newberry.
